If you are a student see Student access to courses on Moodle.

How do I log into Moodle?

  1. Go to the Moodle home page (http://moodle.lse.ac.uk/)
  2. Enter your usual LSE network username and password (i.e. what you use to log into LSE public computers) in the top left corner.
  3. Click 'Login'.
  4. Once logged in, you'll see the 'My Courses' block in the top left corner. This lists all the courses that you are enrolled on, if any. Click the name of a course to enter it.

How do I enrol on a course?

  1. Log into Moodle.
  2. Once logged in, go to the 'Course categories' by clicking on the 'Courses using Moodle are listed by department' in the central column. The categories correspond to LSE departments.
  3. Click on the category (department) you want to view available courses.
  4. Only those courses available for enrolment will be listed. Click on the course name to enrol on it, and confirm by clicking 'Yes'.
  5. You will now be in the new course, and it will be added to your 'My Courses' block.

Note: By following the above steps you only have student rights. That means you cannot see student grades, read their assignments, view their activity etc. To do that you need to be a 'Teacher' or 'Moodel Editor' on the course (see below).

How do I become a 'Teacher' or 'Moodle Editor'?

When you first enrol on a course, you only have student rights. That means you cannot see student grades, read their assignments, view their activity etc. To do that you need to be a 'Teacher' on the course.

  • Teacher access - Contact your Moodle course editor who will then give you (non-editing) Teacher access. If you are not sure who is editing your course check the course entry in the Moodle courses listing.
  • Moodle Editor access - If you need to be able to edit the course yourself, please contact clt-support@lse.ac.uk, giving the course code and the name of the lead academic if it is not yourself.
