Centre for Learning Technology - CLT

About the Centre:

The Centre for Learning Technology (CLT) supports staff in the use of technologies to enhance teaching and learning at the London School of Economics. We work with colleagues in Information Management and Technology, Departments, The Library, the Teaching and Learning Centre and other colleagues to promote the integration and use of technology in teaching and learning by supporting key technologies, through staff development, advice and guidance, research, collaboration and networking.

About Learning Technology:

Learning technology (or e-learning) is the application of  technology to the enhancement of learning, teaching and assessment. This requires the analysis and investigation of both pedagogic questions and technologies.  Examples of learning technology include the use of:

  • communication tools such as discussion forums, audio/ video conferencing and social networking sites;
  • online models and simulations (such as second life);
  • online provision of course materials and multimedia;
  • online assessment and submission of assignments;
  • use of technology in the classroom;
  • digital library services.
