CLT courses, workshops and events
A variety of scheduled courses on learning technology topics are offered as part of the Teaching and Learning Centre's staff development programme and the E-Literacy for E-Learning Programme. These courses tend to be introductory and are open to any staff who are interested. In addition the CLT runs a variety of hands-on workshops.

One-to-one Support
Training and support is available on a one-to-one basis for staff who are implementing learning technologies such as Moodle. To arrange a one-to-one appointment please email clt-support@lse.ac.uk
Skype workshop – use your computer to talk
This session is aimed at staff interested in finding out how to use online telephony (skype), for supervision, research, networking - and friends and family. Skype is a tool that allows you to make telephone and video calls over the Internet – for free! We will be covering all the basics, including how to set up an account, find and add contacts, make voice and video calls. In the second part, we will be covering how to record a conversation, how to have a group conversation, "chatting" and desktop and file sharing. The format will allow for informal discussions about how best to use skype in an educational setting.

Moodle Basics Training
Description:
This course is open to all LSE staff who need to update/edit Moodle courses. It provides an introduction to basic skills required to update/edit a course in Moodle.
It covers the following topics:
- an overview of Moodle
- the course homepage
- adding files to the course and linking to websites
- adding forums
- managing the course settings
Test accounts and test courses are used for this course.
Format:
A trainer-led course, with a mix of presentations and hands-on exercises delivered in 2 hours.
A further optional hour provides an opportunity to immediately start working on your own Moodle course with CLT staff on-hand.

Poster Presentations: an introduction for PhD Students
Description:
This course provides practical advice on designing and creating an academic poster suitable for presentation at conferences.
Format:
* Principles of poster design
* Opportunities to view and critique examples of conference posters
* Hands-on poster layout activity and feedback session
* Practical advice for getting your poster printed at LSE

Copyright, the internet and teaching online
It is becoming increasingly easy to find digital resources that can be used for teaching. It is also easy to use resources unintentionally that may infringe other's rights. This session will deal in a general way with some of the issues associated with using digital resources and discuss what help and support is available within the School to ensure that proper use is made of these resources.

Using a range of digital media for teaching
Description: This hands-on workshop focuses on the use of digital media in teaching and will include the following topics:
* Why use digital media?
* Examples of digital media in teaching
* Finding image resources
* Finding video resources
* The Educational Recording Agency (ERA) licence
* The TRILT (Televison and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching) database
Format: A trainer-led course, with a mix of demonstrations and hands-on exercises delivered in 1.5 hours
